According to PBGEA (Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association), banana shipments to China are slowly improving and may soon normalize as businesses resume operations.
Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, banana shipments from the Philippines to China were disturbed. But this "has slowly improved due to the normalization of the situation in many ports, the reopening of supermarkets and retail stores, as well as the resumption of banking services," said PBGEA.
According to Filipino professionals, bananas remain the most requested fruit in China after apples and citrus fruits. Chinese importers are optimistic and believe that this crisis will not affect demand for bananas from the Philippines in the long term.
