Carton Pack announces important acquisition and partnership

Carton Pack S.p.A. is a provider of multi-material packaging products for the fruit & veg and ready-to-eat markets across Europe. Founded in 1970 by the Leone family and headquartered in Rutigliano (Puglia, Italy), the company has recently acquired a majority stake in Smilesys S.p.A. 

Smilesys, founded in 2013 by CEO Ernesto Zanarella, is focused on manufacturing sustainable and resealable packaging products for the fruit & veg and food markets.

This is Carton Pack's second add-on acquisition since A&M Capital Europe acquired a majority stake in the company in April 2022. 

This acquisition is in line with Carton Pack's strategy to become a leading European food packaging specialist with a multi-material product offering, while also expanding into innovative technologies. Moreover, it will further enhance Carton Pack's footprint in sustainable products.

Smilesys will continue to be led by its CEO and founder, Ernesto Zanarella. Carton Pack is uniquely positioned to support the next phase of development for Smilesys, providing commercial, operational, and strategic support to benefit the company's ambitious growth plans in existing and new markets.

Gianni Leone, CEO of Carton Pack, expressed excitement about the investment in Smilesys, and the partnership between the two companies.
