Poland used to import dozen thousands of tons of bulb onion from Ukraine in the season 2006/07; now the country expands the own production of this vegetable. High prices for onion led to the rapid extension of the onion cultivation areas; the acreage of both early and late onion has been extended.
The prices for early onion continue declining in Poland; past week the prices decreased lower than the price level observed in Ukraine. So, the season of onion export to Poland may be considered as finished. Moreover, onion will hardly be exported to Poland in a new season, that's why the experts of the periodical recommend Ukrainian producers start searching for onion buyers in Russia, Romania, Moldova and other countries, because Ukraine will have to compete with Poland on these markets in a new season.
