Andalusian asparagus accounts for 60% of Spanish exports

The sector is confident, the demand for asparagus in Europe is still growing.
Fresh asparagus from Andalusia exceeded the 10,000 tonnes exported last season, equivalent to 60% of the national total sold abroad.
At the Asparagus Fair in Alcalá del Valle, inaugurated by the province's Minister of Agriculture, the province highlighted the good results of the sector. The production of Andalusia represents 60% of Spain's total exports of asparagus, worth around 34 million euros.
The main destinations for these asparagus are Germany (51.8% of the total), France (23.2%), Switzerland (5.8%), Denmark (3.6%) and Italy ( 3.5%).
