Citrus production to decrease -15.2% in the 2022/23 season

The 2022/23 citrus production season in Spain began on September 1. According to the second estimate from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), production would reach 5.99 million tons, compared to the 5.96 million announced in the first estimate on September 15.
This means, the citrus production in Spain would be -15.2% less than in the previous season.
The ministry specifies the volume of 3.010.642 tons corresponding to sweet orange, 1.9 tons to small citrus fruits, 944.799 to lemon, 75.395 to grapefruit and 9.652 to other citrus fruits.
The most significant decrease compared to the 2021/22 season corresponds to sweet orange (-19.9%), followed by grapefruit (-13.7%), other citrus fruits (-11.2%), lemon (-9.9%) and small citrus (-9.8%).
