The French seaport of Boulogne: a strategic hub between Northern and Southern Europe.
Boulogne/mer 's chamber of commerce is going to take advantage of Berlin's Fruit Logistica to introduce itself as France's first fishing port, and as Europe's leading centre for seafood transformation ant trading.
The port is a strategic hub between Northern and Southern Europe and is widely used by scandinavian countries to export their fish to France & Belgium, and as a plateform to redistribute that fish to mediterranean countries such as Spain, Portugal, Marrocco, and other Northern African countries.
The port now has a new goal and is hoping to use their close relationships to the scadinavian and mediterranean countries to start importing fruit and vegetables from the Southern European countries to Boulogne Sur Mer, and in turn export fruit and vegetables back to the scandinavean countries.
To do so, the port is investing in a new state-of-the-art logisitic centre for storage and low temperature packaging designed for perishable goods and a road / rail terminal.
