Europeans like strawberries, they consume 1.2 million tons.
Strawberry is one of the favorite fruits of Europeans who consume about 1.2 million tons. Improved varieties, wider timing, new eating habits, and so many attempts to explain the continuing rise in the consumption of strawberries.
In Europe, the highest consumption per capita is in Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom with 3 kilos / year. In France, Spain and the Netherlands it is half as much. The largest increase was recorded in Italy, where consumption of strawberries since 2000 increased by 31%.
In Spain, production is concentrated in Andalusia (95%) and 9 of the 10 kilos harvested are destined for export. Main destinations: Germany (30%), France (20%) and the United Kingdom (13%).
