Pear production in Emilia Romagna - lower production but good quality

Tony Bongiovanni, our Italian sales director, informs us that the production of the Abate pear variety in the Modena Province has fallen by 25% compared to 2002.
While fruit size is small, this is compensated for by the high sugar levels, which are as high as 14%.
