Interko goes beyond bananas; combining ripening expertise with advanced technology

“Interko is well-known when it comes to traditional banana ripening,” explains Managing Director/Partner Chris Maat. “Now we want to create awareness about how else our knowledge and technology can be applied to add value for customers.”
To that end, the Dutch company will target the growing demand for ripe-and-ready avocados and mangoes by presenting sophisticated solutions that could revolutionise tropical fruit ripening across the Americas, when Interko’s Senior Business Development Manager Anna Zegveld attends the PMA Fresh Summit 2019.
The following week, Interko will exhibit at Fruit Attraction 2019 in Hall 10, 10A04F, where Chris Maat and Narcís Guinart will host a workshop to discuss the advantages of at-source ripening for certain fresh fruits, including citrus, apricots, peaches and pears.
“Interko has in-depth knowledge about how to transport fruit in a better state so it reaches the client in its optimal condition for the best price,” Maat comments. “For example, Interko technology can be used at the source for citrus de-greening or to ripen fruits like apricots, which actually improves their shelf-life. You can add a lot of extra value at the source, instead of leaving ripening to the final destination.”
