Agro-industrial exports from La Libertad grow by 5% year-on-year

La Libertad continues to be Peru's leading region in terms of agro-industrial and fruit and vegetable exports in particular.
In 2023, agro-industrial shipments from this region reached $1,950 million, marking a 5% increase compared to the previous year ($1,858 million), according to data provided by the Association of Exporters (ADEX). This figure represented 88% of the region's total non-traditional shipments.
The United States stood out as the main destination for agro-industrial exports from La Libertad, with a value of $879,571,000, representing an increase of +6.7% and a share of 45.1% of the total. Other important markets included the Netherlands ($297 million), Ecuador ($200,497,000), Spain ($166,632,000), China ($88 million), United Kingdom ($80 million), Hong Kong ($43 million), France ($34,593,000), Chile ($25 million), Germany ($20,648,000) and others.
The region's star product was blueberries, which accounted for 43.9% of total exports with a value of $855,696,000 (+19% year-on-year). Other outstanding products were avocados ($282 million), fresh or refrigerated asparagus ($145,633,000) and prepared or preserved non-frozen asparagus ($90 million).
The top ten was completed by fresh grapes ($86 million), artichokes ($69 million), other vegetables and fruits ($40 million), piquillo peppers ($28 million) and mangoes ($24 million).
