The vertical farm produces vegetables in Singapore, which wants to reduce its dependence on food.
Singapore has opened its first vertical farm.
Singapore extends over just 710 km2 and is largely urbanized. Today, only 7% of the vegetables consumed in Singapore are locally grown.
The vertical farm, developed by Greens Farms Sky, consists of 120
aluminum towers over 9 meters high. The farm can produce up to 0.5 tonnes of vegetables per day.
After this opening, Greens Farms Sky hopes to attract $20 million from investors for improvements and plans to build another 300.
