In the first 4 months of the season, which began in October 2022 and will end in June 2023, Peru exported 884 tons of fresh figs, which means an increase of 16% compared to the same period of the 2021/22 season, says the consulting agency Inform@ction.
The main recipient countries of these supplies are the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, France and others.
Shipments in October 2022 totalled 168,025 kilos, in November 309,142 kilos, in December 306,780 kilos, and in January almost 100,000 kilos.
Currently, Peru has some 600 hectares planted with this fruit, the main regions being Ica, Arequipa, Tacna and Lima.
It should be remembered that in 2022 Peruvian fig exports reached 1,277,100 kilos for $7,530,946, showing a year-on-year decrease of -5.75% in volume and -1.46% in value, according to Agrodata Peru.
