US business boosts Delhaize results

Belgian-based retailer Delhaize has posted annual net profits almost EUR 365 million, saying that it benefited from a good performance of its US operations, where it achieves the majority of its sales. Sales at the group's US operations were EUR13 .3 billion, around 75 percent of the total turnover. Delhaize operates over 2,700 stores and says it expects to open almost 100 new stores in 2006.
