Itaueira is a family-owned company that has been growing tropical fruits (melons, cashews and pineapples) in Brazil since 1983. With more than 2,500 hectares planted in Brazil, its 5 packing-houses are very well equipped with cold storage, washing, sorting and packing lines.
Itaueira’s main purpose is to supply always sweet and deliciously mature fruits to niche markets. Specialist in Yellow melons that are GlobalGAP certified, all Itaueira farms comply with GAP, GMP and HACCP requirements, preventing contamination from production to distribution, using techniques to identify the risks and implementing requirements and procedures to prevent them from happening.
The traceability system and the field record program allow the company to know the history of each box of fruit from when the seed is planted until it reaches the client.
Itaueira has a training program for all its employees, thus assuring the consumer that its fruits are pure, wholesome and safe to eat, produced under the best sanitary conditions with honest labeling and packaging.
Itaueira is very concerned about the welfare of its employees and their families, working to improve their safety, education, training and quality of life.
Environmental protection is another one of its main concerns. In 2005, its water, flora and fauna conservation plan was approved, which includes the improvement of the area currently under protection through reforestation.
Itaueira melons are always easily recognizable by the customers as they are individually packaged in a net, with a ribbon bearing its brand and a EAN bar code, for both the international and national markets.
Itaueira started to export Yellow Honey Dew melons to Europe in 1999. Now, with a yield of up to 18 thousand metric tons per year, it is starting to export its Piel de Sapo melons as well.
Since 2004, Itaueira has been growing Brazilian Sweet Pearl pineapples, and selling them nationally.
In 2007 Itaueira started to export the first pallets to USA and UK developing all the necessary tests to establish the best packaging and the ideal harvesting point, to offer a really great ready-to-be-eaten fruit to the international market.
