In New Zealand, the 2019 the apple/pear harvest estimate has just been announced. The total forecast is up by 2.5% from 2018 production.
The 2019 apple and pear crop is expected to reach 604,500 tonnes, up 2.5% from 2018 production.
"Despite a bit of hail in the Central Otago region, in the rest of New Zealand conditions have been very good this season," said Alan Pollard, New Zealand Apples & Pears Chief Executive. Which presages an exceptional quality of the fruits.
The area planted, dedicated to apples and pears, continues to grow by 3% to 4% per year to reach 10,189 hectares.
