Price of strawberries in the export fell down

Important decline of the prices in the export (-44 %) but the sector is mobilized to stimulate the demand.
The price of the strawberries of Huelva on the international markets fell of 44 % with regard to year 2009, carrying the price of the product in 2,40 € the kilo.
The production decreased a lot because of the exceptional weather conditions of this year. Cold, storm, rains and floods came to disrupt the production which, according to the professionals will be in decline of about 30 %.
To stimulate the demand, one press conference has been organized, in Paris, by Diputación Provincial of Huelva, Junta of Andalusia and Interfresa to inform the French market about the quality of the strawberries production to Huelva.
This action is a part of a campaign to promote and to support the sector of strawberries with the consumers, with for objective to widen its market shares in Europe.
