Russia toughens standards and controls of Turkish agricultural products
MD
The president of the Farmers Association of Turkey denounces the strengthening of Russian standards and controls on Turkish agricultural products.
According to the Association, Russia withdrew five Turkish companies from the list of exporters after finding high levels of pesticide residues. 8 other Turkish companies would be on "red alert".
The Turkish Association believes that these decisions are not fair and that Russia does not apply the same rules to all its suppliers.
Turkey also exports its products to Europe, containing the same level of pesticide residue, unless they are rejected.
The Association ensures that Turkey has implemented self-monitoring of agricultural production with certified technicians who check the legal rates.
