NatureSeal: blends of vitamins and minerals to extend life of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables
Extensive line of products to maintain the natural, fresh qualities of produce after it is cut was presented by NatureSeal on PMA in USA. NatureSeal initially developed a formulation to keep sliced apples from browning and expanded into a line of fresh-cut formulas, created to combat oxidation and liquid purging.
“By working with fresh produce processors we have expanded our product line to include what is most important to the industry”, – says Karen Murphy, NatureSeal director of marketing. She adds: “This line has grown to include protective formulations for over 30 varieties of fruits and vegetables. Our products are comprised of ingredients that are sulfite-free (GRAS), allergen-free, GMO-free, and Kosher and Halal certified, with some blends certified for use on organic produce”.
The NatureSeal line of products are precise blends of vitamins and minerals that maintain the natural texture and color of fresh-cut produce for up to 21 days, without altering the flavor. First Step product line offers alternatives to chlorine and is highly effective against pathogens in the wash water, making for a safer food product. New formulations for Guacamole and Avocado keep this delicate fruit green and appetizing, while the newest offerings for whole and processed root vegetables extends the shelf life of this produce category.
Produce processors can now offer their customers prepackaged, fresh-cut fruits and vegetables to make those home cooked meals when they have little time to chop and dice the staple ingredients.
