Peruvian agro-exporters are looking for new destination markets, due to the paralysis of trade with European countries driven by the war in Ukraine, according to the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (AGAP) and international reports.
With the support of the National Agricultural Health Service of Peru (Senasa), adaptation processes are carried out to overcome phytosanitary access barriers to new destination countries.
The Peruvian mango is in the process of phytosanitary adaptation to enter Argentina, Malaysia, Taiwan, Morocco, Iran and South Africa. The main markets for this fruit are the United States, the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Russia.
The blueberry is in the process of being adapted to export to South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and South Africa.
Today, one of the main consumers of the Peruvian blueberry is Holland, from where it is distributed to other European countries, according to AGAP. As a consequence of the oversupply of this and other Peruvian fruits in this market, price for blueberries has dropped, decreasing the profitability of growers.
