EU: Increased volume expected for 2023 production of peaches and nectarines

According to forecasts from the 4 major countries in the EU, this 2023 peaches and nectarines campaign should reach a total of 2,687,591 tonnes, or +14% compared to 2022 (Photo: medfel.com).
Forecasts for the upcoming peaches and nectarines campaign are complicated when 2 major producing countries have been affected by climatic events (Spain by drought, Italy by floods) which could weigh on production.
On the occasion of the digital event "Les Mardis de medFEL", the 4 major countries in the EU for the production of peaches and nectarines revealed their forecasts for the 2023 campaign.
This 2023 campaign should reach a total of 2,687,591 tonnes (+14% compared to 2022) broken down into 1,029,971 tonnes of round peaches (+3%), 335,929 tonnes of flat peaches (+58%), 690,964 tonnes of Pavia (+10%) and 1,321,691 tons of Nectarines (+16%) .
.Italy: 2023 production should reach 422,602 tonnes of round peaches, i.e. -4% compared to 2022 (438,190 tonnes), as well as 63,822 tonnes of Pavia and 446,595 tonnes of nectarines, i.e. -12% compared to 2022 (505,464 tons).
.Greece: 2023 production should reach 194,370 tonnes of round peaches, i.e. -7% compared to 2022 (209,000 tonnes), as well as 331,500 tonnes of Pavia and 139,970 tonnes of nectarines, i.e. -3% compared to 2022 (144,300 tonnes).
.Spain: 2023 production should reach 299,449 tonnes of round peaches, i.e. +29% compared to 2022 (233,023 tonnes), as well as 621,146 tonnes of nectarines, i.e. +63% compared to 2022 (380,063 tonnes) . In addition, the country expects a production of 292,159 tons of pavia and a production of 335,929 tons of flat peaches, or +58% compared to 2022 (212,077 tons).
.France: 2023 production should reach 113,530 tonnes of round peaches, i.e. -2% compared to 2022 (116,267 tonnes), as well as 3,483 tonnes of Pavie, i.e. +26% compared to 2022 (2,761 tonnes) and 113,980 tonnes of nectarines, i.e. +4% compared to 2022 (109,775 tonnes).
These figures are provisional and will be updated in mid-June.
