The Australian government has indicated that AUD 110 million ($ 69.7 million) will be allocated to support air cargo in essential sectors, including agriculture.
The initial target markets will be China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
This list could be expanded in the future depending on demand, mode of operation and business opportunities. The first points of departure for freight will be Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
A general coordinator will advise the government on operational aspects (composition of freight, product eligibility, etc.) and will help establish agreements with exporters, airlines, freight forwarders. With strong consideration for driving commercially viable options for exporters of fresh produce.
