Kazakhstan has lifted its restrictions on the import of fresh pomegranate from Uzbekistan.
Talks between the two countries made it possible to reach an agreement and take measures to develop trade.
Since 19 February, Kazakhstan had banned the import of fresh pomegranate from Uzbekistan. An agreement has been reached and this ban is now lifted. The two countries will strengthen the cooperation between their quarantine services and the control of the export and import of products.
Between January and June 2018 the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by 52%. The two countries plan to increase this turnover from 3 billion USD in 2018 to 5 billion USD by 2020. The two states also intend to increase the number of rail, road and air communications.
