The challenges were many for this 2021/22 season but the New Zealand kiwi industry has succeeded. Record result for this 2021/22 season, with total worldwide fruit sales turnover exceeding NZD 4 billion (USD 2.6 billion) for the first time.
For the 2021/22 season financial results show Zespri's worldwide operating revenue, including licensing revenue, reaching NZD 4.47 billion (USD 2.9 billion), up 15% from the previous season.
Zespri's worldwide fruit sales revenue reached NZD 4.03 billion (USD 2.6 billion), up 12% from the previous season. Global sales volumes increased by 11% compared to the previous season to reach 201.5 million trays.
While challenges remain for the 2022/23 season, Zespri CEO Dan Mathieson said he was confident in the industry's ability to respond and move forward: "The future of our industry is incredibly promising, with strong growth opportunities ahead of us and we are committed to seizing them.”
