Unbalanced diet by the Swiss population who consumes not enough Fruits & Vegetables.
This is the first survey of this kind that has just been carried out in Switzerland to study the eating habits of the population. The verdict is clear: too much meat, too much fat and not enough fruits and vegetables.
MenuCH, the national survey was conducted by the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine of the University of Lausanne under the auspices of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). The Swiss feed themselves in an unbalanced way.
They consume too much meat, on average 780 g per person per week (recommendation 240g). For sweets and salted snacks, consumption is 4 times higher than the recommended quantities. For fruit and vegetables, only 12.4% of respondents consume 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day and 13% are less than 1 serving per day.
This survey will be repeated every 5 years and will serve to refine the nutrition strategy for years to come.
