Fruit production is important in Brazil, in particular in the north of the country where temperatures are good for farming and, makes it rank third on a global scale after China and India. It is estimated at 34 million tons per year for a growing area of 2,5 million hectares and employs 4 million people. Brazil produces several kinds of fruit, from tropical in the north to citrus fruit or grapes in the south.
