In the 2023/2024 season, Peruvian exports of fresh blueberries would reach 228,000 tons, which would mean 58,000 tons less than the 286,000 tons shipped in the 2022/2023 season.
This is stated by the Association of Blueberry Producers of Peru (Proarándanos) in its new projection for the end of the current season, which indicates that it will end with a drop of at least 20% compared to the previous season (2022/2023).
The association explained that this drop is due to the climatic anomalies that have occurred this year (such as cyclone Yaku, El Niño Costero, among others).
It added that the lower projected volume is compounded by the delay in production that will last until the first quarter of 2024.
