Turkish trucks remained blocked 4 to 5 days on the border looking forward to tests on fruits and vegetables.
Turkey has reached a temporary solution regarding Turkish trucks blocked at Bulgarian customs for tests on fresh fruit and vegetables exported to the European Union.
Indeed, according to the European regulations, it is necessary to make tests for fresh fruit and vegetables entering the EU.But due to problems in Bulgaria’s laboratory, the Turkish trucks transporting fresh fruit and vegetables were obliged to wait until four or five days to the Bulgarian customs.
Turkey thus made a temporary agreement with the European Union and the Bulgarian authorities: trucks can continue their road having subjected to the Bulgarian border of the samples which will then be sent to the country of destination of the exports.
"Our talks with the authorities of the EU are ongoing for a definite solution." indicated Zafer Caglayan, Minister of State.
Turkey is now in talks with the EU authorities to secure greater flexibility concerning the tests which could be made in the country of final destination of the exports rather than near the EU.
