Enhanced shipboard and global monitoring capabilities with TripLINK platform by Carrier Transicold
Carrier Transicold, part of Carrier Global Corporation, a leading global provider of innovative heating, ventilating, air conditioning and cold chain solutions, enhanced its TripLINK™ platform for refrigerated container monitoring with the ability to integrate with vessel-based wireless networks for improved shipboard cargo visibility and operations efficiency.
According to Willy Yeo, director of marketing, Global Container Refrigeration, Carrier Transicold, by integrating with on-vessel wireless networks from leading providers, such as Wireless Maritime Services (WMS) and Net Feasa Ltd., the TripLINK platform gives ship personnel insights about their refrigerated containers on-board (equipped with TripLINK), including information about temperature, refrigeration unit operation and the exact location of the container on the vessel. For vessels with satellite connectivity, TripLINK data can now also be transmitted back to a fleet's landside monitoring station when refrigerated containers are at sea outside of cellular coverage. This means more updates about cargo and location information around the world, which giving asset operators and owners more control over their refrigerated containers.
Integration with the local network of the ship requires installation of TripLINK vessel software. The software provides operators with a set of control protocols and visibility through the TripLINK dashboard, which displays summary information about refrigerated containers.
"Our latest software update significantly expands the current suite of monitoring and control capabilities of the TripLINK platform,” said Yeo. Due to update the ability to simultaneously send identical refrigeration unit commands, such as temperature set points, to multiple containers, rather than one at a time. This not only minimizes operating costs, but also improves the overall efficiency of fleet managers.
