Spanish companies to enhance agricultural digitalization in Armenia and Georgia
VU
Armenia and Georgia, two countries with significant growth potential in the agricultural sector, still face limited digitalization in their farming practices.
In Armenia, agriculture constitutes a substantial portion of the country's GDP, accounting for 31.1%, mainly stemming from small-scale agricultural production. To boost this sector's capabilities, ICEX organized a commercial mission in Armenia, aiming to introduce Spanish companies specialized in digitalizing various industries.
Valeria Shimkevich, the Business Developer of Agrifood at Libelium, participated in this initiative to showcase the company's intelligent solutions for agriculture.
While Armenia and Georgia possess immense agricultural potential, their adoption of digital technologies in farming has been relatively modest. Nonetheless, Mrs. Shimkevich emphasized the rising interest in these regions to innovative technologies that optimize productivity in small-scale farming.
According to Mrs. Shimkevich, the implementation of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) has the potential to boost agriculture in these regions, enabling better crop control and more efficient resource management.
During the commercial mission, Libelium presented its IoT solutions specifically tailored for the agricultural sector, encompassing crop monitoring, soil quality management, irrigation control, and resource optimization. These solutions empower farmers to gather real-time data, make informed decisions based on precise information, reduce operational costs, enhance product quality, and minimize environmental impact.
