Good prospect for the New Zealand kiwi
The 2010 season of the kiwis has begun under the best aspects, the first indications on the volume, the quality and the taste of the fruit announce one good year.
After fruitful year of 2009, the current harvest promises to be very positive and gives optimism and confidence to all the sector.
Small and big producers share this optimism. At Zespri, the biggest distributor of kiwis to the world, the harvest of kiwi’s gold began, and that of green and organic kiwis will begin in some weeks. The same volumes of production are expected as last year.
Zespri had exported the last year about 100 million trays for a 800 million dollar value.
The first expeditions to the European market will begin at the end of March with a ship for Zeebrugge.
