New Zealand’s first carbon neutral bananas

All Good and T&G Fresh have joined forces to supply the first Fairtrade and Zero Carbon certified bananas in New Zealand.
Andrew Keaney, managing director of T&G Fresh, comments the company is proud to be the first New Zealand company to import, sell and distribute Zero Carbon bananas in Aotearoa:
“As part of our Kaitiakitanga commitment, we are focused on building a healthier planet by protecting and nurturing the natural environment and taking positive climate action is part of this”.
According to Keaney, their team cooperated with All Good, Agrofair and Ecuadorian growers, and utilized their global connections to choose a solution to offset the carbon footprint of every All Good banana.
“It’s a huge effort to get to this point and it’s the result of years of hard work”, stresses Keaney.
Now, All Good bananas are carbon neutral certified by EKOS and are under a permanent forest protection project in the Peruvian Andes near the Fairtrade farms in El Guabo, Ecuador, where All Good Bananas are cultivated.
This project protects the Amazonian Rainforest from road and agricultural development with concrete benefits to local population. It is certified to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
T&G Fresh is an exclusive sales and distribution partner to All Good since 2015. It helps All Good to reach more customers in New Zealand by using T&G Fresh’s national transport network, strategic ripening, and market locations.
T&G Fresh is the New Zealand business of T&G Global. It operates as a grower, grower aggregator and supplier of fresh vegetables and fruit.
T&G Fresh grows and commercializes its own apples, blueberries, tomatoes, and citrus fruits. Alongside its own cultivated produce, T&G Fresh sells produce on behalf of 1.200 independent growers from New Zealand, through its 12 market floors, located in Auckland, Whangarei, Tauranga, Gisborne, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Hastings, New Plymouth, Nelson, Dunedin, and Christchurch.
