Khetse Agriproduce to launch distribution centre network

Total Produce and Tata Chemicals' joint Indian venture will invest in a distribution centre chain.
Khetse Agriproduce India, the joint venture between fresh produce provider Total Produce and Tata Chemicals, has announced that it will invest over €127m on a new network of 50 fruit and vegetable distribution centres in the country.
The move follows an initial investment of €4.5m earlier in the year, used to fund the first two centres in Punjab province and Mumbai which will be opened during the first half of 2008, according to The Independent.
Chief executive of Tata Chemicals, Homi Krusrokhan, confirmed that the entire project was on course to be completed by 2012, while the new business may also consider exporting surplus fruits and vegetables.
