A new banana plantation of 5000 ha for Del Monte

The Association of Producers and Exporters of banana indicates that the export industry is a success for the country. The Philippines, which have produced 155 million boxes in 2009 is one of the leading countries in the international market.

 
The National Economic Development Authority has announced that Del Monte Fresh Produce Inc. started a plantation of 5000 hectares in Agusan del Norte. This project worth several million dollars would stimulate economic activity in the area and strengthen the country's position on the world banana market.
 

 
Del Monte is the third largest distributor of bananas with a market share of 14%. Del Monte is producer in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Brazil, Cameroon and the Philippines and buys bananas from independent producers in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala and the Philippines.
