Bumper crop will allow to export 1 million tonnes

Pakistan recorded a bumper crop of potatoes this year .

In the province of Punjab , potato production reached 3.7 million tonnes. 35 % more than the previous year. With a little more effort and care, production could reach 4 million tons , said an industry professional .

To export a volume of 1 million tons of potatoes is possible , according to the Provincial Minister of Agriculture. To date 32,000 tonnes of local potatoes have already taken to Russia , Malaysia, Bahrain, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.
