The mango industry is the most dynamic export

ASEPEX, the Senegalese Agency for Export Promotion, is highlighting the dynamism of the mango industry.

 

According to  ASEPEX Senegalese production the data amounted to 125 000 tonnes of mangoes which 16 770 tonnes were exported (Europe, West Africa). The "Kent" variety is the most exported, thanks to its considered excellent eating quality. Furthermore, the Senegalese mango is only present on the international market during the summer.

 

"The mango industry is the most dynamic export" said Jean Marie Diouf, secretary general of ASEPEX.

 

The export volume accounts for only 14% of total production and the aim is to increase exports to 36 000 tonnes per year. By strengthening the capacity of actors, for the implementation of infrastructure and other initiatives that will be needed to increase exports
