Situation of citrus fruits in Russian market in last week of August 2007

The situation of oranges in Russian market remained to be tough. South African fruits cat.I were the most expensive – 0,78 US$/kg, cat.II – 0,73 US$/kg, Argentine oranges – the same, Uruguayan – the cheapest – 0,68 US$/kg. Oranges from South America have much less juice inside than those from South Africa. There was no any interest for oranges on the market.
0,95 US$/kg due to large arrivals looks worse than a week before but still reasonable. The market shows an interest so this price reduction is rather temporary.
The demand for mandarins was stronger than offer – as a result mandarins went up to 1,56 US$/kg level for fruits without decay.
Some extra grapefruits arrivals from Argentina didn’t let the price to go up – 1,16 US$/kg. Ruby Red variety was the last one to move. Less and less grapefruits are coming from South Africa thus they jumped to 1,61 US$/kg level.
