Spanish fruit exports drop in volume but grow in value until October

From January to October 2022, Spain exported 5.4 million tons of fruit, which means a decrease of -10.5% compared to the same term in 2021, according to data from the Customs and Excise Department of the Tax Agency. The value of these supplies increased +1.7% reaching 7,217 million euros.
Peach shipments totaled 235,023 tons (-28%) and 372 million euros (-12%); those of nectarines totaled 255,749 tons (-23%) and 431 million euros (-8.5%); those of plum stood at 86,788 tons (-21%) and 118 million euros (-11%). Strawberry exports decreased -11% in volume, reaching 274,405 tons, although they maintain the same value as in 2021: 697 million euros.
Vegetable exports totaled 4.1 million tons (-6%) and 5,500 million euros (-9.6%). Pepper led the ranking with 593,328 T (-7%), lettuce, with 531,756 T (-10%), tomato, with 481,996 T (-6%), and cabbages, with 398,430 T (-20%).
In total, shipments of fresh fruit and vegetables in that period stood at 9.5 million tons, 8.6% less than in the same period of the previous year, and the value increased +2.8% totaling 12,717 million euros.
