Banana production in the Philippines will drop at least 33% according to PBGEA, the association of producers
Banana plantations devastated by a typhoon last month will see a huge drop in production.
The PBGEA (Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association) estimates a 33% decline in production in 2013. Production is expected to reach 100 million
boxes, very far from the usual volumes of 150 million boxes.
The association states that contracts will be honoured, but in addition to their traditional partners, it will not be possible to serve new markets.
