Singapore wants to increase local food production

SFA (Singapore Food Agency) set a target of meeting 30% of nutritional needs with locally produced food by 2030. But new measures have been announced to rapidly increase local food production, including agriculture on rooftops.

 

 

 

The government will finance with SGD 30 million ($ 20.9 million) the support of local production of eggs, fish and vegetables. As soon as possible.

 

 

 

The plan includes the identification of alternative agricultural spaces, such as industrial zones, empty spaces and the roofs of buildings, warehouses or parking lots. As well as the use of new technologies to improve farming methods.

 

 

 

Farms should be established in May on the roofs of a dozen public parking lots.
