Drop in banana exports

Banana exports in Panama dropped by 15% to 18,51 million boxes in the first nine months of 2001. This drop seems to be due to bad weather conditions and labour disputes. Indeed, in August, 15 plantations of the Puerto Armuelles Fruit Co. were closed by strikers.
