Close of date exports confirms record

The 2007/2008 has achieved record results with a total of 56,000 exported tons up to September 1st, against 49,000 tons for previous season.

 

In value the activity generated 171,400,000 dinars (that is around 95 million euro), 22,200,000 above the turnover in 2006/2007.

Tunisia is 4th leading world date exporter and pays more and more attention to production rise, as it currently accounts for 16% of total food exports.
 

According to estimates made by the Agriculture Ministry, for the 2008/2009 campaign a production of 70,000 is forecast.
