Household consumption of fruit and vegetables decreases between January and June 2022

Total spending on fruit and vegetable consumption in households has decreased -7% between January and June 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, totalling 6.414 million euros. (foto:blog.aepla.es)
In Spain, the consumption of fresh fruit in households between January and June 2022 reached 1.834 million kilos, which is 13.6% lower than that consumed in the same period of 2021 and 10% less compared to 2019, before the pandemic, according to data from the MAPA Food Consumption Panel.
The consumption of vegetables in households totaled 1.180 million kilos in the first semester, 16% less than in 2021 and 9.5% than in the same period of 2019 and that of potatoes has also decreased -14% compared to the previous year and 5% compared to 2019.
Total spending on fruit and vegetable consumption in households has decreased -7% in the analyzed period of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, totaling 6.414 million euros.
