Market players: carrot prices will be record high in winter-spring period in Ukraine

According to the data of price monitoring conducted by CIS produce business periodical, "Agrooglyad: Fruits and Vegetables" weekly, today the prices for carrot are in average 50-60% higher than in the previous year in Ukraine; quality carrot costs almost twice as high as in the previous season. Also, the prices do not practically decline on market despite of the started harvesting of carrot in farms.
The specialists explain this situation by the generally decreased harvest of carrot in the farms of Ukraine as a consequence of summer drought and the reduction of the cultivation areas of this crop. The experts think, no fundamental price decrease will be observed in the period of massive harvesting; moreover, most market players expect the prices to grow in the second half of autumn when the farmers start load carrot to the storages. Almost nobody of the market players doubt the fact that carrot prices are likely to beat the records of several previous years in winter.
Also, to the specialists' opinion, carrot import will be top record in a new season in Ukraine. Right now the prices for carrot are 50-70% higher in Ukraine than in its neighbor Russia and 2.2 times as high than in Poland. Carrot deficit on the inner market of Ukraine will possibly be satisfied by means of the supplies of this product from Russia and Poland.
