Vega Baja recorded a 20% growth in artichoke surfaces.
Artichoke production is surging in southern Spain.
ASAJA, the Young Farmers Association, believes that surfaces have reached 1650 hectares this year, up 20% compared to 2011, especially in the district of Vega Baja and the municipalities
of Orihuela Almoradí, Pilar de la Horadada and Callosa de Segura.
This progession reflects the profitability of artichokes whose price is more resistant to crisis, says ASAJA.
