Turkish grapefruits for Japan
FJ
Started in 2011 with about 800 tons, the export of Turkish grapefruit increases and continues to increase.
It's Ozler Tarim AS, based in Adana, the only Turkish company arranging shipments, valued at approximately $ 1 million. This month, the company will send 3,000 tons.
Japan is a very difficult market: the fruit is sent in refrigerated containers, after a cold treatment, and arrives at destination after a 16-day sea voyage.
For the moment, the grapefruit is the only Turkish fruit authorized to be imported by the Japanese authorities. Some negotiations are under way to allow the export of other fruits - lemons, cherries - from Turkey .
