After months of negotiations, exports of onions from New Zealand to Indonesia may resume.
Satisfaction for New Zealand professionals who can once again export their onion crops to Indonesia. New regulations were approved after months of negotiations.
The COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences on the international supply chain were to be feared, but industry professionals found that there were no disturbances. They say they are convinced that the Indonesian market will develop for New Zealand onions.
Onions are the main crop exported to Indonesia, with a turnover of NZD 28 million ($17 million) in 2019. In total, New Zealand onion exports in 2019 reached NZD 172 million ($104.5 million).
