At the annual meeting of the Northwest Cherry Growers in the United States, which brings together producers from 5 states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Montana), the estimated 2024 cherry crop was unveiled.
The 2024 crop is estimated at a total of 170,500 tonnes, or 17.1 million boxes (20lb = 9.07kg). This is less than the 2023 crop (185,000 tonnes) and well below the 1st estimate for the season (210,000 tonnes). The 10-year average is around 210,000 tonnes.
The volume is broken down into 142,500 tonnes in Washington state, 26,200 tonnes in Oregon, 1,600 tonnes in Idaho and 200 tonnes in Utah. Montana may not be harvested due to the very low volume.
