DSV will establish new logistics centre in Sweden
DSV, provider of transport and logistics services, will establish a logistics centre in Rosersberg north of Stockholm, which will be located close to the airport, motorway and railway.
According to Magnus Malmqvist, Managing Director at DSV Road AB, Sweden, with this new location, goods for local customers can be shuttled between the north and south sites and be distributed from either of them. The company will avoid most of the problems during rush hours traffic that is particularly dense around Stockholm. This will allow DSV to improve on both pick-up and delivery times.
The new site with an area of almost 70,000 sqm, will be equipped with an automated robotic storage system and narrow aisle racking systems, which altogether provide the capacity of almost twice that of a conventional warehouse. The facility will also comprise a 5,000 sqm cross-dock area and office space.
Brian Winther Almind, Executive Vice President, Group Property, shared: "DSV is always looking for sustainable solutions when building new sites. 80% of the building materials can be reused, solar panels on the roof will provide most of the electricity required for the operation. The buildings will be DGNB (German Green Building Council) certified, with an expected building lifespan of at least 50 years."
According to the company's plan, the construction of the new facility will begin in February and will be completed by the end of 2021. The new site is expected to bring about 200 new jobs in the Rosersberg area.
Headquartered in Denmark, DSV provides and manages supply chain solutions for thousands of companies every day. The company operates worldwide and has 55,000 employees in more than 80 countries.
