Nakumatt continues its expansion
MD
The Nakumatt chain, based in Kenya, has opened its first store in Tanzania and will continue to expand the network.
The store in Tanzania brings the number of Nakumatt outlets to 35. The chain plans to build four other supermarkets in Tanzania in Arusha and Dar es Salaam. The chain, which is already present in four countries (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania), also plans to open a store in Burundi.
Nakumatt wants to completely cover the East and does not exclude expansion across the continent. It is looking at opportunities in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, southern Sudan, Malawi and Botswana.
