Peruvian agricultural sector has shown an increase of 1.2% in January 2021.

The Peruvian agricultural sector started the year positively, showing a rise of 1.2 % in January, compared to the same month in 2020, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).
Artichoke has shown a higher production (+37.4 %), followed by chili pepper (+32.2 %), and grapes (+28.7 %).
In addition, there was a good performance of potato production, which increased by 24.1 % due to the greater area planted in Lima, Cusco and Huánuco.
Also, corn (+23.9 %), lemon (+21 %) and tomato (+17.7 %) stood out, among others.
The Peruvian agricultural sector ended 2020 positively despite the pandemic, with an increase of 1.3 % compared to 2019, also supported by the higher production of the agricultural subsector (3.1 %).
